Michael is one of the partners of the firm. After building a successful practice at Edward Jones, he partnered with Logan Lavelle Hunt in 2008 and merged with Shepherd in 2018.
Michael is committed to serving his clients and his community, which is evidenced by his continued quest to responsibly further his education and financial knowledge. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional (CFP®), he has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business (BA) from Hanover College, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Webster University, an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from Bellarmine University, and has earned the following professional designations from the College for Financial Planning: Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM (AAMS®) and Accredited Wealth Management AdvisorSM (AWMA®). Michael has also earned the Certified Fund Specialist® (CFS®) designation, the Certified Annuity Specialist® (CAS®) designation, the Certified Income Specialist™ (CIS™) designation, the Certified Estate Planning Specialist™ (CES™) designation, and he is currently working on a Master’s of Science degree in Financial Services (MS) from the Institute of Business & Finance. Michael is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®), designated by the Center for Fiduciary Studies™. He holds multiple licenses and registrations, including Series 7, Series 24, Series 63, Series 66, Life, Accident & Health, Annuity, & Long-term Care.
Michael is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table® (MDRT®), based on sales, The Premier Association of Financial Professionals®, and he has achieved the association’s highest level of membership as Top of the Table®. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Building and Development Association of Southern Indiana (BDASI), serves as the organization’s treasurer, and previously chaired the Home Expo. He also sits on the Hanover College Athletic Advisory Board and is a local school board member. Michael is also active in several other trades and professional associations throughout Indiana and Kentucky has served on the Board of Directors for the Hanover College Alumni Association and chaired its Development Committee, has served as an Ambassador for One Southern Indiana, and he volunteers as a youth coach in his community. When he is not at work, Michael enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends, watching and participating in sports, and working out. Michael and his wife Stacy have been married since 2000 and they have a daughter and twin sons.
