Fred has assisted business owners as their strategic insurance consultant for over 30 years. He is a holistic consultant, looking at not what you have, but what is needed in avoiding risk in the ever evolving world today. Fred helps explore Insurance coverages and premiums that best suits a business plan. Serving all lines of business, Fred specializes in business risk management including professional liability, Data Breach, employee benefits, and business financial planning for owners and key executive employees.
He began his career with AAA as a leader of their largest office in Indianapolis. After ten successful years, Fred started a private insurance brokerage. That company merged into Agency Associates, Inc. (AAI) and he became their president in 1996. The agency had 800% of dynamic organic growth during Fred’s tenure as president. AAI then merged with Brown & Brown Insurance, the sixth largest agency in the nation. McClaine led their Indiana operations and it became the largest insurance agency in the state during his six years. McClaine joined the Shepherd team in May of 2014 as Senior Consultant and became a Partner in 2016.
McClaine has served on numerous boards including the Marian University Committee for Scholarship & Educational Advancement, the Sands Resort Strata Board in Turks & Caicos Islands, founding Board Member of “Those Catholic Men” and St. Theodore Guerin Catholic High School Facilities Committee. He is a graduate of The Scott School of Business at Indiana State University with a BS in Marketing. In the insurance industry, he served as president of the Greater Indianapolis IIAI, was president of the Young Agent’s Council, and was also the IIAI Young Agent of the Year. Fred is a member of the Indiana Medical Group Management Association (IMGMA) and the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA).
Fred and his family are members at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish in Carmel, Indiana. He enjoys vacationing in warmer climates and time with his family.
