Shepherd Earns Platinum Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health

March 24, 2026

Shepherd Insurance is proud to share that we have been recognized as a 2026 Platinum recipient of the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health, the nation’s leading recognition for U.S. employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where employees feel supported, respected, and empowered to care for their mental well-being.

The Bell Seal evaluates how organizations support employees’ mental health and well-being through comprehensive criteria in four areas: Workplace Culture, Benefits, Compliance, and Wellness. The Platinum designation is the highest honor granted by Mental Health America (MHA).

Workplace Mental Health Recognition

The months ahead shine a national spotlight on mental well-being, with April being both Stress Awareness Month and National Counseling Awareness Month, followed by Mental Health Month in May. Receiving the Platinum Bell Seal as we enter this season underscores our commitment to supporting the mental health of our employees today and throughout the year.

Employee Well-Being at Shepherd

A career at Shepherd is shaped by opportunity, meaningful relationships, and a culture that puts people first. We believe that when individuals feel supported and valued, they are better able to grow, contribute, and pursue fulfilling careers within our organization.

Employees at Shepherd have access to:

  • A people-first culture where relationships and teamwork come before titles and commissions.
  • Comprehensive benefits that promote mental, physical, and financial well-being.
  • Professional development and learning opportunities that support both professional and personal growth.
  • Community engagement through Operation Shepherding, our year-round initiative that encourages employees to give back, including two paid volunteer days each year.
  • Flexible work options, including remote, hybrid, and compressed workweek opportunities.

Our approach is designed to meet employees where they are and support their well-being today while preparing them for the future.

Partnering with Employers to Elevate Workplace Well-Being

A Message from Our Director of Population Health & Well-being, Brittany Nelson

“Bell Seal recognition reinforces our commitment to supporting employees with practical, evidence-based mental health resources. It affirms that the way we care for our people is measurable, consistent, and aligned with how we operate as an organization. As a family‑first culture, we want every employee and their family to feel supported in meaningful, accessible ways. This recognition sets a benchmark for how we design benefits, how we invest in well-being, and how we create a workplace where people can perform at their best.”

Continuing the Commitment

Earning the Platinum Bell Seal is an achievement shared by every member of the Shepherd family. We believe that when individuals feel supported and valued, they are better able to grow, contribute, and pursue fulfilling careers within our organization. We look forward to the year ahead and to continuing our mission of serving clients, colleagues, and communities with excellence.
