Case Study: Compliance

Client failed to file Form 5500 documents with the Department of Labor since 1972, as required for all ERISA plans with more than 100 participants. The client was responsible for paying a $2,250,000 penalty.

How We Helped

Shepherd Insurance worked with the client, ERISA attorneys, and 5500 form experts available to Shepherd
Insurance clients at no additional charge.

Shepherd negotiated a reduced penalty to $4,000 through the Delinquent Voluntary Filer Program in addition to
preparing a wrap plan document, which bound all plans into one, reducing the number of delinquent plans.
Overall, Shepherd saved the client $2,246,000.
